South Australian farmer and businesswoman, Tammy joined NCO as General Manager in 2018 overseeing the certification and inspection services.
Tammy has a Bachelor of Environmental Science, and has worked on stud and commercial cattle, export feedlot, and cropping enterprises across a diverse range of regions, from South to North Western Australia and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia.
Since moving to SA, Tammy has predominately been in the medical management field. She has been responsible for the strategic growth and financial management of the medical group she has worked for, growing the business from a single practice to a group comprising four clinics.
Tammy’s focus at NCO is to better understand the needs of operators and, where possible, streamline processes and reduce any unnecessary red tape while improving service offerings.

A highly experienced natural resource management and environmental administrator, Melanie is NCO’s Chief Certification Officer returning to NCO in January 2018 after 12 years in public service.
Melanie has held key positions with the South Australian Government’s Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources since 2013, including most recently as Coordinator of Business Administration and Reporting. She previously worked as a Senior Land Management Advisor for the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resource Management Board for 8 years following her role as Certification Officer/Auditor for NASAA from 1999 to 2005. She was also Secretary of the NASAA Inspection Review Committee.
Melanie holds a Master of Environmental Management from the University of New England.

Overseeing the accreditation and quality assurance programs for NASAA Certified Organic, Frances plays a key role in maintaining the rigorous NASAA Organic and Biodynamic Standard and the expectations of numerous international equivalency agreements.
A former cattle producer who currently runs her own bio-dynamic horticulture enterprise in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges, Frances has worked extensively in the biodynamic agricultural industry for over 25 years.
From 1992, she was a member of the National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce Standards Committee, including acting as Committee Chair from 2005 to 2009.
Frances is a graduate of the University of New England where she gained her Bachelor of Rural Science with First Class Honours. She also has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

With a strong industry background through technical roles with companies including Parmalat Food Products and B.-d Farm Paris Creek, Nyla has an excellent understanding of the food sector coupled with skills and qualifications in natural resource management.
She began her career as a Catchment Officer—Community Support with Border Rivers-Gwydir Catchment Management Authority, Inverell & Moree, before taking up a role as a horticulturalist for Hedgekin Horticulture. She then moved to a laboratory-based position with United Dairy Products conducting quality assurance and quality control compliance testing on raw and finished dairy products in a NATA accredited laboratory.
Nyla holds a Bachelor of Science in Biodiversity & Conservation from Flinders University and a Graduate Certificate in Integrated Water Management from the University of Queensland. She is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Conservation Land Management and a Certificate III in Horticulture.
Nyla is a volunteer nursery hand with Greening Australia and cites Sophie Thomson, Karen Montgomery and Costa Georgiadis as her favourite, inspirational ‘green-thumbs’.

Leading food technologist, Paul is one of NCO’s most experienced certification staff members with extensive experience across a range of commodities and an excellent understanding of the organic standards in addition to USDA NOP, JAS technical criteria.
He joined NCO in 2013 following technical roles in organisations spanning flour milling, fruit and vegetable processing, meat processing, beverages (juice, water, soft drinks and beer), snack foods and bakery and dairy processing.
From 1993 to 2001, he worked for Dairy Farmers in South Australia in a number of roles gaining firsthand experience of the industry and the stringent technical aspects of modern milk processing including organic products.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Food Science and Technology from the University of Adelaide and a Certificate III in Food Processing (General Foods). He also is trained in HACCP Principles and Applications, JAS and NOP Standards.
He has a particular interest in organic dairy, wine, meat processing, horticultural and aquaculture certification.

Nairobi born and bred, Wambui Gikenye is an experienced compliance and quality assurance professional with strong administration skills.
She has a broad background in agriculture horticulture including a Kenyan-based global floriculture supply chain in quality, compliance and social justice issues, as well as a Fairtrade FLO-Cert Auditor for Oceania.
Wambui holds a Bachelor of Science (Horticulture) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Master of Sustainability and a Master of Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Adelaide.

Carolin joined NCO in 2016 bringing a rich skills and knowledge base in water, environmental and natural resource management.
She is a member of the Organic Trust of Australia—Research and Education and Young Organics and has spent more than five years in dedicated research roles, including at the FiBL Research institute for Organic Agriculture and the University of Hohenheim.
For over 12 years, Carolin has worked on international projects assisting local communities to develop capacity in natural resource management across Africa, Israel, India and the Philippines.
She has previously been published on involving small-scale farmers in eco-label processes and, more recently, was a contributor to iFOAM’s Standards, Regulations and Organic Policies and A Global Vision and Strategy for Organic Farming Research.
Carolin holds a Master and Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Resource Management) from the Brandenburg University of Technology.
Carolin’s special interest is organic viticulture certification.

Haruyo is NCO’s specialist in the Japanese Agricultural Standard and supports operators to gain access to the valuable Japanese market where demand for organic produce continues to grow exponentially. She also helps to guide operators through the certification application process.
Since 2009, Haruyo has liaised closely with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to ensure that NCO complies with the JAS accredited Certifying Body, including any changes in JAS Standards and regulations. She fulfils the role of Organic Produce Certificate and explains requirements to be met by NCO operators wanting to export produce and products to Japan. She also provides support for inspection preparation and report processing.
Haruyo holds a Master of Arts (Economics) from the University of British Columbia, Canada and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics), Kanazawa University, Japan.
She also works as a NAATI qualified interpreter.

Mel plays a critical role in NCO as Inspections Coordinator, managing the inspections for nearly 1,000 operators including initial and annual site visits.
Mel has a background in professional logistics within the seafood industry where most recently she was Administration Manager at Pro Seafoods. She previously worked in the travel sector running her own travel agency franchise and was a member of the sales team at RAA.
She holds an Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Travel Services from Adelaide TAFE.
