Certification by an accredited organisation such as NASAA provides the only consumer guarantee to verify 'organic' product claims.
NASAA's national and international accreditations ensure the provision of a certification service based upon integrity, transparency and an ethical approach; in turn, ensuring the acceptance of organic product into world markets.
We've done the hard work for you!
NASAA is routinely audited by the following accrediting authorities to ensure that its quality systems are benchmarked in accordance with best practice:
Within Australia

NASAA is nationally audited and accredited under the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) Organic and Bio-dynamic Program, which commenced in 1994.
AQIS accreditation is a legal requirement for all organic product exported from Australia. In the absence of domestic regulation, AQIS accreditation also serves as the 'de facto' benchmark for certified product sold on the domestic market.
NASAA's Quality Management systems are operated in accordance with this program, and the NASAA Standards are developed in line with the AQIS administered National Standard.
For more information in relation to the Organic and Bio-dynamic Program, visit the AQIS website.
Outside Australia

In 1994, NASAA was one of the first certifiers in the world to be accredited by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM).
With 748 members in 99 countries around the world, IFOAM provides a platform for global exchange and cooperation, inputting into international parliamentary, administrative and policy forums. Accreditation under IFOAM ensures that products carrying the NASAA label meet the highest approval standards for organic produce in the world.
Since receiving accreditation, NASAA has taken an active role in IFOAM governance and is represented on many international committees concerned with the worldwide development of organic agriculture.
For more information, visit the IFOAM web site.
There are additional organic product requirements for export entry into the Japan and US markets. NASAA is your first point of contact to advise on the requirements for, and latest updates on, the JAS and USNOP Standards and Guidelines. Accreditation through these programs can be undertaken as a separate exercise, or in addition to existing NASAA licences.

NASAA was the first certifer outside of Japan to achieve accreditation under the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS), issued by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (MAFF) in 2001.
The standards set out mandatory organic labelling
requirements, organic production standards and third-party
certification procedures for acceptance of organic
product into Japan. Certification by a JAS accredited
organisation is a requirement for operators intending
to supply product directly to the Japanese market
i.e. where the intention is to directly apply the
JAS label on product. Contact
NASAA for details of JAS certification through
its JAS certification partner.

The National Organic Program (NOP), an autonomous certification program developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), came into effect in October 2002 to regulate organic production, processing and marketing in the US.
NASAA – through its subsidiary company, NASAA Certified Organic (NCO) – has been accredited by the USDA to carry out certification services under NOP. Under the NOP requirements, which detail specific standards for organic management, all suppliers and handlers of ingredient and/or products that are labelled, sold, or represented as '100% Organic', 'Organic' or 'made with Organic ingredients' in the US, must be certified under the NOP system.
